Programmes offered by Toastmasters can be broadly divided into two areas: Communication and Leadership. A selection of these programmes are described below.
The Competent Communicator Programme is a series of ten speeches presented in a Toastmasters club. Each speech is focused on a specific area of speaking. Each speech is evaluated by a fellow club member. Upon completion of this programme, you will receive a Competent Communicator (CC) certificate from Toastmasters International. Areas covered in this manual include:
- Speech Structure
- Use of body language
- Use of vocal variety
- Use of props and visual aids
The Advanced Communicator programme is an extension of the Competent Communicator programme discussed above. However the manuals cover specific areas of speech development. These include:
- Interpersonal Communication
- Persuasive Speaking
- Special Occasion Speeches
- Speeches by Management
- Technical Pesentations
- The Entertaining Speaker
- Speaking to Inform
- Public Relations
- Facilitating Discussion
- Speciality Speeches

There are three levels of Advanced Communicator that you may achieve, namely Bronze, Silver and Gold. Depending on the level you are working towards, you may also be expected to present educational assignments and serve as a mentor to a fellow club member. Upon completion of the various levels in this programme, you will receive an Advanced Communicator Bronze, Silver or Gold(AC B/S/G) certificate from Toastmasters International.
The Competent Leader is presented to a member who has demonstrated leadership abilities by assisting and being evaluated on various club meeting roles such as:
- Serving as a Toastmaster
- Presenting Evaluations
- Acting as Time Keeper
- Arranging Contests
The Advanved Leader (Bronze) is presented to a member who has demonstrated leadership abilities in the following manner:
- Served as a Club Officer
- Achieved a Competent Communicator (above)
- Presented Educational Assignments to the Club
Upon completion of this programme, you will receive a Advanced Leader Bronze certificate from Toastmasters International.
The Advanced Leader Silver is an extension of the Advanved Leader Bronze award above. The leader has
- Assisted with starting or rescuing a Club
- Acted as a District Officer
- Presented eduacational assignments to the Club
To achieve this award, the member has shown a strong commitment to the advancement of Toastmasters, and to achieving the Mission and Vision of Toastmasters International. Upon completion of this programme, you will receive an Advanced Leader Silver certificate from Toastmasters International.
Toastmasters offers "hands-on" courses to teach High School learners the rudiments of effective communication and practical business skills. Following a program designed by Toastmasters International, members of a Toastmasters Club supervise and mentor learners in weekly meetings at a school. The learners, usually from Grade 11, learn both communication, listening and evaluation skills, while receiving the fundamentals of running a business meeting, the roles and responsibilities of each member of a meeting and Parliamentary Procedure.
This five-project program offers instruction and practice in such vital leadership skills and activities as developing a mission and vision, goal-setting and planning, identifying values and building a team. Includes three Guidance Committee Handbooks.
Distinguished Toastmaster is the highest recognition a member may receive. To achieve this, members need to achieve the Advanced Communicator Gold award, as well as the Advanced Leader Silver award. To achieve this award, the member has shown a strong commitment to the advancement of Toastmasters, and to achieving the Mission and Vision of Toastmasters International. Upon completion of this programme, you will receive an Plaque from Toastmasters International
