Brian Gowans

President

Liz Dewing, ACB

Responsible for leadership of the Club and coordinating the efforts of the remainder of the committee to achieve the goals of the Club and the individual members.

Currently a Project Manager with Old Mutual, Liz has enjoyed a diverse career spanning IT, Recruitment and Management Consulting. A keen reader, Liz is also a published Author and enjoys writing short stories in her spare time as well as reading for Tape Aids for the Blind. Her interest in public speaking began when she was an Exchange Student in Australia in 1982.

VP Education

Brian Gowans, DTM

Managers the educational needs of members and planning of the program.


Brian has been a Toastmaster for twelve years and was previously Club President in 1999. He went on to be an Area Governor, Division Governor and Lt Governor Marketing. In 2006 he was District Treasurer. He was awarded his Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) in 2005. He has now completed his second Competent Communicator and has started his second Competent Leader.
He is Director of Marine Technology, a Consulting Engineering company. He is very much involved in the water, designing boats and ships and surveying their construction and modification internationally. He has recently completed writing a book on boat and yacht building. His pleasures are in sailing, particularly in the Mediterranean islands and the West Indies, and in cruising on the canals of France.
