Cape Town recently hosted a visit from Toastmasters International President, Ted Corcoran DTM. Our own Cape Town club was the host venue and close to a hundred toastmasters from clubs in the area gathered to hear Ted’s words of wisdom. It was the first time since 1995 that the International President had visited and the wait was certainly worthwhile.

Ted gave a 45 minute presentation on developing leadership skills. His soft charismatic, conversational style and razor sharp Irish wit kept the audience enthralled. He aimed to simplify an often overdone topic and left everyone with a straightforward message: “If you want to be a better leader, immerse yourself in the Toastmasters training program.”

The evening brought together Toastmasters both young and not so young, it was a chance to make new friends and catch up with old acquaintances. A great time was had by all.
